City Riots

Australia’s City Riots came through NYC. The band was recently in the US recording their album in Chicago and they happened to tour the states a bit in the process. Some friends invited me out to the show and always one to check out a new band, I hit up the show and ran off a few pictures. Gogol Bordello | All Points West 2009

Gogol Bordello

Shooting Gogol Bordello was definitely the best time of the weekend. Mainly because frontman Eugene Hutz is ridiculously animated and doesn’t stop moving the entire set allowing for some really great action shots. The only downer of the set was that his backup dancers/singers/drum beaters didn’t come out onto the stage until after the 3 songs in the photo pit were up, so I go no shots of them running amok on stage. The Cool Kids | All Points West 2009

The Cool Kids

Live hip-hop is a tricky game. If there are too many people on stage with mics in their hands it can get messy (see Wu-Tang Clan) but this wasn’t a factor in The Cool Kids set. Like many other artists this weekend, they too ran through a medley of Beastie Boys songs in honor of the Beastie’s having to pull outta the festival due to MCA’s recent cancer diagnosis.
